Cape Cod is home to more than just stunning beaches, wonderful hiking trails and a vibrant theatre scene.  More recently it’s rapidly become home to a growing list of craft beer breweries and cidery’s .  Now, with Cape Cod Craft Beer, there is no need for people who suffer from cenosillicaphobia (fear of an empty glass) from avoiding the Cape!  Whether you’re into light summer ales, hoppy IPA’s, or a bolder brew, on the Cape there’s a Craft Beer option to satisfy your thirst. Here are three Brewery’s all withing 20 minutes of the Inn and offering some of our favorites.

Hog Island Beer Co.

Just five minutes from the Inn, this has to be the first on our list.  Established 5 years ago, it’s named after Hog Island, located on Little Pleasant Bay in Orleans, and rumored to be a home to buried pirates treasure.  With beers such as White Shark Wheat, Outermost IPA, Moon Snail Pale Ale and Endless Summer Ale, it has friendly and expert staff on hand to help and guild.  During summer enjoy live music and bar snacks in the family friendly beer garden. Hog Island also supports various events throughout the year including,  The Orleans Surf Film Festival  .

Devil’s Purse Brewing Co.

Drawing its name from the casing that surrounds the fertilized eggs of skate and a common find on the Cape’s beaches, another gem just down the road in South Dennis is the Devil’s Purse Brewing Co. They offers a variety of local and European styles, from Pollock RIP, an classic IPA, featuring Apollo and Chinook hops, to Surfman’s Check, a malt forward style driven by English malts and Handline Kolsch, a German style kolsch with hints of lemon zest and cut grass.

Open year round and seasonal food trucks to compliment tastings.

Cape Cod Beer

The largest and most established craft beer on the Cape, Cape Cod Beer started out in 2004 in Hyannis and supplying beers to a small local market.  Moving to its current location in 2006, Cape Cod Beer has continued to expand its range of beers, and today offers four year round beers and several seasonal brews with names like Boatmeal Stout, Breakfast Blonde and Cranberry Harvest.   Cape Cod Beer offers daily guided tours, beer tasting, a seasonal beer tent and a fun shop.

Finally to round out our review, a day trip to Nantucket is not complete without a visit to Cisco Brewers.  A guaranteed winner!
